Another Living (AL) wish to receive you as a volunteer. Another Living (AL) is a Christian Community Based Organization in Uganda(East Africa)registered by Wakiso District (CBO; REG. NO: WCBO/479/2005) as a Non Profit making Organisation. The mission of AL is to bring hope through providing love and care in a Christian environment to the orphaned, street children and children from poor families in , Wakiso District and the surrounding areas. AL has enjoyed a significant growth within the last Four years. AL has managed to pay school fees for some of its children and rented a house where these children are currently staying. AL is planning to do more new programs and staff has doubled in an effort to effectively administer the new programs as well as keep pace with the organization's growing administrative responsibilities. Currently the organization has a capacity of 40 children ranging from 1-18years both boys and girls. Out of these only 3 children have been confirmed HIV positive and they are getting treatment in one of the HIV clinics in Uganda. The organization Director is MR. Ssiaulya Joseph who is called Daddy by the children (despite the fact that he has no biological child, he demonstrates best characteristics of a good father), the children also have a care taker whom they call aunt (aunt Joyce) who does the cooking mainly and supervision of the children. All the older children from 13years help out in the cooking. We also have the Music director called Kavuma Isaac, we have Uncle Steven, Aunt Dorothy and Pastor Paul who gives support to the director in various aspect. However, much of the work is done by the director. The children home provides shelter, food, clothing, education and medical (mainly rely on local herbs) among others to these children. The major source of funds is the Director’s salary that he earns from Teaching at Excel high school kibiri where he works as a History and Geography teacher. This means we can never get enough, sometimes children have to go with one meal and many of them are not yet in school because of luck of money. The Director is mostly busy looking for funds and this leaves much of the organization work pending and luck of enough care to the children hence calling for people to come and volunteer at this home.
